What is your preferred mode of travel?

During the month of January, I will be posting (tentatively) one post every day as part of the #bloganuary challenge
Today’s Prompt: What is your preferred mode of travel?

Let me start this post by saying I don’t do very well with “preferred”. I have a lot of issues choosing ONE preferred thing. There are so many amazing things out there for you to choose ONE. Preferred song? No idea. Preferred Movie… NOPE! I have lists. Please don’t make me pick just one of anything 🤣

That said, each way of travelling has its pros and cons and situations when it’s better to opt for one or another.

For example, I absolutely love flying, but when I go to Montreal I rather drive. It’s a 7 hours drive. But, if I fly I need to drive 1h to the airport, be there 2 hours early, go through lineups for check-in, and security check, then get there, wait to get out of the plane, wait for your luggage, have a mini heart-attack while you wait for it because there’s always a chance your luggage was sent to Timbuktu by mistake. I love flying but it’s not a straightforward process. So I drive, I can listen to my loud music and sing like there’s no tomorrow. I can stop to have a bite or use the washroom and visit a friend in Ottawa on the way.

For long distances, of course, flying is the best. My only issue is that I can’t sleep on airplanes (or anywhere other than a bed tbh) so it’s a bit exhausting. But I absolutely love take-offs and landings and being above the clouds. And the fact that something so heavy can actually fly, all the physics and mechanics involved in it makes me smile every time we are taking off. YES, I’M A GEEK!

I also love travelling by train. I can simply be there, listening to my music (no singing, tho), working or writing on my blog and enjoying the view.

I guess I’m gonna go the other way. The travel mode I like the least is by bus. It’s like, meh. It’s not as fast as a train, not as comfortable as being in my own car, I’m not the one driving, I’m definitely not above the clouds, so it’s just not the best, but sometimes it’s the only option. But it’s not terrible either. 🤷‍♀️

On shorter flights I request the window seat on the wing just so I can watch the flaps and get inspired by the engineering. It’s amazing.
