During January, I will be posting (tentatively) one post every day as part of the #bloganuary challenge
Today’s Prompt: What is a cause you’re passionate about and why?
This is funny because today’s prompt is 100% inspirational and yet, I am zero inspired to write anything today.
I am passionate about a lot of things, and one of them is science. Science-based information, fact-checking, good quality scientific studies, information and education as opposed to opinion and beliefs.
I also believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there’s a line to be drawn. What’s the best pizza topping is an opinion. Saying vaccines cause autism is not an opinion. It’s simply not true. And that’s the beauty of science. It’s true whether you believe it or not.
Also, science is always evolving, going further, digging deeper and adapting. Because the only constant thing in life is change (Heraclitus).
The world is wonderful and fascinating enough. There’s so much we still don’t know, and the path we trace to find answers to the mysteries of our universe is enough for me.
Lately is getting really hard to deal with the myriads of people passing ahead information they got from Whatsapp and Facebook as something real. Anti-vaxxers, Flat-earthers (I will NEVER understand the “reasoning” behind this one), QAnons, chemtrails, or even the harmless ones but that still boggles me like… ASTROLOGY… the reason why people believe the alignment of the planets on the day they were born would interfere with their personality or what happens on their day blows my mind into a million baffled pieces.
The internet is filled with conspiracy theories, fake news spread out intentionally, and so on.
There are many other causes that I am passionate about like Human Rights in general (gender/sexual orientation/Identity/race/ Class/immigration, etc), healthy and sustainable omnivorous eating, anti-gun laws. I could spend the night listing causes I’m passionate about and writing about them, but I will do it another time.
